I am currently writing a Bible study on prayer—how God answers our prayers in personalized ways. Not wanting to repeat some of the supernatural ways God has answered my prayers in the past, I sought the Lord for some fresh testimonies. “Lord, I need some more God stories to share.” This is how He answered.
I pray whenever I sit down to write but nothing was coming to me. With great effort I eked out about 800 words, before running out of ideas. Discouraged, I closed my laptop and called it a day.
That evening my son asked to borrow my Strong’s Concordance. I retrieved it from a drawer that I rarely ever open. Lo and behold, in that drawer were books (that I forgot I had) that related to the topic I was writing on!
I would NEVER have looked in that drawer if not for his request. In addition, I found a typed manuscript on a talk I gave years ago. I randomly turned to a page, and there was a discussion on another topic that I desperately needed to add to a previous lesson! In just a few minutes God had provided the material I needed for two lessons and a God story!
What had seemed like an unanswered prayer in the afternoon suddenly became a supply line courtesy of God.
Are you frustrated and discouraged? Still waiting for an answer to prayer?
When you pray and don’t get an immediate answer, perhaps God wants to give you His answer in His timing, answers that might be better than you expected.
Wait and trust that He will supply your need. He didn’t answer my one prayer the moment I asked because He had planned to give me three answers in an amazing way that only He could have orchestrated. It’s hard to wait. But whether it’s days or years, the answers are worth it.
My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19 NKJV).
Thanks for sharing this Jane. I also have been born again in the last two years. He threw me in at the deep end and told me to learn social media. I am now circling back to my writing with new skills I would have never tried or even thought existed to try. All because I needed praying lessons to get closer to him. I have. His perfect timing. God is good, all the time.
Hi Chris,
