LOCKED IN SOLITARY!

My worst nightmare dropped into my lap just two weeks before Christmas. The prayer I had prayed every working day had failed to be answered the way I had hoped.

“Lord, please don’t let me get sued,” seemed to have fallen on deaf ears.

The next crushing blow was delivered by my attorney. “You are not allowed to speak to anyone about this lawsuit.”

With that pronouncement, he pushed me into a small, windowless cell, locked the door and dropped the key into his pocket. Solitary confinement.

Or so it seemed to me.

No visitors. Except one. He slipped through the bars and spoke to me through Psalms and Proverbs. Scripture became my lifeline; prayer became my passion.

Hebrew 12:6-7 redirected my course. He disciplines those He loves, as a father disciplines a son. I stopped complaining to the Lord and began to see this crisis through His eyes. If I had to suffer, I wanted it to count for my spiritual growth and maturity.

God had not caused this nightmare, but since He allowed it, there must be a reason.

“Lord, teach me whatever You want me to learn from this,” became my daily prayer.

By pursuing God intensely, what the enemy meant to turn my life upside down, God used to turn it right side up. He turned my tragedy to triumph.

Are you in a crisis right now? Are you struggling to find God’s will for your situation?

Some simple prayers can turn things around even in the midst of your turmoil.
